Discussions on the Black College Experience

Here is a little about me! Currently I have a lot going on in my life. I recently published my first book (which is the heart of this blog), I work full time as one of the assistants to my pastor, I am in school full time pursuing a Masters in Professionial Counseling and my husband and I recently started our own business...we are the youngest and one of only 3 African Americans in the country to own a movie theatre! Our website is www.cinefe.com (check it out!). So, I am extremely busy, but hey...I believe life is meant to be lived not tolerated!

Black Colleges

Okay, I created my very first blog spot in November. Really, I did it only because my publicist (Shout out to Candace w/ Envision) suggested that I create one...but to be perfectly honest, I really didn't (and still don't to some degree) understand the whole 'blog-phenomenon". However, today, I went to visit a literary agency and while meeting with them, I found out that they have a blog spot for their company! Now, come one! This is an official professional business and they have a darn blog spot! So here I am ready to commit to this new level of commmunication. Don't get me wrong. This is right up my alley! To be able to share my wonderful thought provoking perspective (yes, I believe in what I have to say...lol) on issues is my thing, but it just takes me a minute to catch up to technology.

Anywho...I am going to keep this blog focused on the whole theme which is HBCUs! I have a question: Does anyone else realize that we are in danger of losing one of the few institutions that 'we' own? I mean really...churches and black colleges are all we really have. Why are our young people not as excited about attending as I was? Young people, tell me your thoughts...are you interested in a black college...if so, why; if not, why not?? Come on guys...clue me in...Let's get to the bottom of this before it's too late!
